One of my first hikes...
Written by hmsv1 29.08.2013 16:04Interesting to see you have been out a lot in the Peak District Chris! Kinder Scout was one of the first mountains I walked up about 15 years ago, even though I don't think it is a very interesting part of the UK to hike around (the hills around there are very flat on the tops as you might have noticed). What do you think?
Aw: One of my first hikes...
Written by Chris 09.09.2013 19:39Indeed the Kinder area was a bit monotonous. Watching those hills with the peak baggers eyes they don't offer that much, I agree on that. Still I liked the chance to move my legs more or less horizontally between the climbing sessions.
On the contrary those estern Peak District edges really accelerated the beat of my climbers heart. Not only while placing gear on those incredibly great routes but also when looking down from their tops. I loved to just sit there or to take a walk across looking down those valleys enjoying the coutryside with farms and small towns. Or maybe it was primarily because of the nearly perfect weather when sun and clouds created a fantastic atmosphere? Of course always having an eye on the next routes. ;-)
