Trip Summary

We had a room in WakeUpCopenhagen (Borgergade) and rented bikes---typical Danish bikes with three gears---from there. We headed first towards Kastellet and aimed then at Strandvejen, which leads all the way towards the north. Cycling in Copenhagen, Denmark, is really great: lots of space for cyclists, not much up and down---nice and easy! :-) Near the Tuborg factory, we met the cycling path #9, which connects to the north along Strandvejen. Cycling along Strandvejen is nice with lots of great views over the sea to the east. At Skodsborg, we should have understood that cycling path #9 is continuing in parallel to Strandvejen---a little further away from the sea. Instead, we continued along Strandvejen, which was OK, but a little less fun, since no cycling path is available at this stretch. Near Rungested, where the cycling path #9 comes back to Strandvejen, cycling along the street is nice again (good cycling path). A few kilometers further north, we came close to Humlebæk (our goal for this day). There, instead of following the main road, we continued along the street through the village near the sea. This choice is really highly recommended, since the old center of Humlebæk, near the sea, is really nice to look at (old houses, nice gardens, etc.). On the northern end of Humlebæk, we came right to the museum Louisiana and enjoyed the great exhibition as well as the nice garden of this nice museum. After visiting the museum, we cycled the same way back (with the exception that we followed cycling path #9 also there, where it departs from Strandvejen a little). All in all, this was a great day and cycling to Humlebæk and back was really a very good idea.
