Started just after lunch with reasonable weather and a not entirely clear idea of where we were going but an adventurous spirit and the promise of a kvikklunsj at the top spurred us on. After the rain started we quickened our pace and found our way to the top and happily tucked into our chocolaty reward. A democratic discussion on which way we should descend saw us continue straight over the mountain and down into Kvalsvik turning right to go pick up the car from where we left it (parking for Mulatua). Not in the same league as our Solida expedition but a good trip for an after dinner walk. Some views I've never seen before and of course valuable quality time with my son who enjoyed not being grounded :)

My son and I did this trip and it certainly won't be forgotten in a hurry. We walked up to Mørkevatnet on Friday night and spent the evening camping before starting out on Saturday morning. Not the most forgiving of mountains (the route we took) and certainly the tallest in my limited mountain walking career. I wouldn't recommend starting with this one if like me you've had a few years of relative inactivity. That said stunning views on the way up and at the top. Progress was hampered by two factors, 1) never having walked this mountain before 2) snow hid a good portion of the path, so in parts navigating was very much guess work but we took our time and were careful. We certainly won't win any prizes for the fastest ascent but maybe for inventiveness of the route. A great >>>
