Flying in from Oslo to Dublin, 330km cross over Ireland, check in at the B&B, tea with the host for the night, and then a recognition tour to the starting point.
I were lucky with the weather, so I decided to give it a try directly. But with a late start from the Lisliebane parking, at 200 masl, with no flash light I could not make the whole "horse shoe" as first thought. I saw 5-6 people on their way out of the valley as I speeded into the valley bottom, heading for the "Devils Ladder", west of the river Gaddagh.
The first kilometers are very easy and nice. Then one meets the steep "ladder" which is more or less in a very small "river". Here it is aprox 250 height meter till you get to the "saddle". From here 320 more meter up the hill side to the top.
I met two couples at the bottom of the "ladder" claiming it was two hours to the top, something that would leave me at the top in complete darkness, and possibly with fog too!
I put on my "7-mile-Booths" and made it up in 35 minutes.
Finally on the top the clouds disappeared for a while, and I got a great view, also of the steep north side of the mountain. (Do not go here when bad visibility!!!)
Down I could enjoy the view of the other mountains that I didn't make it to, not the next day either, due to fog and rain.
The terrain is very nice to walk in. I would love to come back!
